Kim Kardashian is the poster girl of the pink movement. Balenciaga has been behind the majority of her fluorescent wardrobe, providing Barbie-hued all-in-ones and fuzzy coats for the star to even wear on SNL.
Kim set the tone when she arrived at rehearsals for the show in a bright crushed velvet Balenciaga coat and thigh-high boots, later changing into a puffy jacket in the same colour, complete with sparkling accessories. Kendall Jenner has also welcomed zesty pink Alo Yoga gym gear into her workout wardrobe, while fellow fashion risk taker Dua Lipa has been wearing the dopamine shade, too. Dua wore a cut-out hot-pink Coperni bodysuit in a recent Instagram “photo dump”, and other shots on her grid have revealed that she’s got a puffy pink Urban Sophistication phone case.
Elsewhere, Olivia Rodrigo modelled a vintage Versace dress from its autumn/winter 1999 collection back in September. Emily Ratajkowski also wore a silky pink slip from Mirror Palais while holidaying in Italy this summer, teamed with a peppy orange bag from JW Pei.
At this year’s Met Gala, stars including Carey Mulligan, Lourdes Leon and Nicola Peltz posed on the famous steps wearing hot-pink creations. Mulligan, in particular, stole the limelight in a gargantuan gown.
The spring/summer 2022 catwalks were brimming with pink-spiration. To round off the season, 45 designers honoured the late Alber Elbaz with a special runway show, featuring creations from fashion’s biggest industry players alongside Alber’s design collective. Pierpaolo Piccioli, Demna Gvasalia and Nicolas Ghesquière were among those that chose to pay homage to Elbaz’s signature colour: hot pink.
